New Mexico Water residential customers who have a past-due balance can use this program. All residential past-due customers with a balance of at least $50 are eligible for a payment plan. Only Residential customers will be eligible for PromisePay payment plan.

Any residential customer with a total past due balance of $50 or more is qualified for an interest-free payment plan.
Your payment plan covers your past due balance and your current charges as of today. You must pay all new water bills with New Mexico Water directly.
Your new bills must be paid to New Mexico Water to keep your water connected. Your payment plan payments will be processed by PromisePay. PromisePay is here to help you pay off your past due balance.
If you need an extension for your plan payment or need to make a change to your plan, just let us know. We are here for you and will do whatever we can to help you make it work.
Once you are enrolled in a payment plan with PromisePay, you have to keep up on your monthly payments with PromisePay AND pay all future water bills directly with New Mexico Water. If you stay current on both your plan payments and pay all new water charges, you can avoid shutoffs.
Yes, if you sign up for a payment plan with PromisePay you can still get any available community-based grants or other relief that you are otherwise qualified for.

Yes, while the moratorium on shutoffs for non-payment ended in early 2022, New Mexico Water recently resumed disconnections. Please contact your local New Mexico Water customer center for questions about shut offs by visiting: https://www.newmexicowater.com/customercare/customer-centers/.
We contact customers via letter first and then door hanger. To avoid disconnection of service, please continue to pay your payment plan and current water bill.
Please call us at +15056052560 to begin the reconnection process to have your water services restored. Please note that the restoration process requires a 25% down payment of a customer’s past-due balance, and the remainder of the total balance must be enrolled in a PromisePay plan. After speaking to Promise, we will transfer you to New Mexico Water to complete your reconnection process.
